Year in Beer: 2024

Written by Pillars Brewery | Jan 10, 2025 12:42:28 PM

Well, 2024 was a wild ride, wasn't it? As we step into the new year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on an eventful twelve months, filled with achievements, challenges, and more lager than ever before!

The past year wasn’t just about breaking records; it was about reaffirming what Pillars Brewery stands for: creating exceptional lager, immersing ourselves in community, and bringing people together.

We’re thrilled to share a few highlights that made 2024 one of the best yet:
  • Awards Galore: We brought home 11 new awards, including golds from the World Beer Awards, London Beer Competition, and SIBA South East Awards.
  • Production Growth: We increased our production by 35%!
  • Sustainability Milestones: We’ve offset all direct emissions from 2023 and have plans to do the same for 2024 by January 2025. Plus, we saved 21 tonnes of plastic through our ongoing commitment to use returnable orange kegs.
  • A New Lager: We introduced our newest core beer, Haus Lager, the first permanent addition in six years!
  • A Fresh Look: Original Pale (formally Hop Lager) received a new name and a glow-up.

But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing.

This year has tested the brewing and hospitality industries in countless ways: rising energy costs, inflation, and economic uncertainty have hit hard. We’ve watched with heavy hearts as more independent breweries and pubs closed their doors, and we don’t take for granted how lucky we are to still be here, doing what we love.

The reason we’re still standing? It’s you.

Your unwavering support, our hardworking team, our loyal trade partners, and our commitment to producing lager we truly believe in have carried us through. Together, we’ve built something truly special!

Looking Ahead to 2025

The coming year is shaping up to be another exciting chapter for Pillars. We’ve got some BIG plans brewing (literally!), and we can’t wait to share them with you in the months ahead.

Here’s to another year of incredible lager.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support means the world to us, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Cheers,

Gavin, Omar, Samie and Eamonn
