Lead Delivery Driver & Logistics Manager

Pillars Brewery is a family-run business experiencing exciting growth, fuelled by our passion for quality products and exceptional service. We're searching for a hands-on and adaptable individual to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring our deliveries reach our customers across London and beyond promptly and efficiently.

About the Role:

This is a varied and dynamic role that combines logistics management with hands-on delivery driving. You'll be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our delivery service, from scheduling routes and managing drivers to personally delivering our products to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning: Plan and execute efficient delivery routes across London using our scheduling software, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to our customers. All managerial tasks conducted during an 8 hour shift on Monday and prior to driving each day for the remainder of the week.
  • Driving This involves approximately 25-32 hours of driving per week + around 2 hours per day preparing and planning (Tuesday - Friday), using our own delivery vans.
  • Driver Management: Conduct new driver training inductions and sign off. Continue to develop the driver training and induction programme with the Operations Director. Organise rota’s using our rota software, manage cover for holiday and sickness. Maintain and build on the existing emergency contacts to find the best service whilst ensuring the delivery cost targets are still met.
  • Vehicle & Equipment Management: Maintain our delivery fleet (currently 2 vans), ensuring daily checks are done by you and the other drivers so that our vehicles are roadworthy, clean, and properly serviced. Manage delivery equipment, such as PDAs, to ensure optimal functionality. Ensure we have the best value for money with servicing, maintenance and insurance.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with our customers, acting as a friendly and professional representative of Pillars Brewery. Organise regular calls with customers to monitor quality of service and keep accurate records for efficient delivery.
  • Logistics Administration: Manage delivery records, track KPIs, and handle logistics administration tasks on Mondays.
  • General Logistics: Manage pallet orders and event logistics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Operations Director, Production team, and Sales team to ensure seamless coordination across departments.

About You:

  • Experienced Driver: You possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and are confident navigating London roads.
  • Strong Work Ethic: You are reliable, punctual, and have a proactive approach to your work and the service you provide.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You can communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
  • Customer-Focused: You are passionate about providing excellent service and going the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Adaptable and Flexible: You thrive in a dynamic environment and can adjust to changing priorities.
  • Team Player: You are a collaborative team player who is willing to support colleagues and contribute to a positive working environment.

Benefits:

  • Be a part of a growing family business with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development within a dynamic company.
